Thank you for your interest in raising money for the ABF. We hope that through your fundraising efforts, you will not only help an excellent cause but also have lots of fun in the process!

Some events we can help you with:
Some other ideas you could try:
Pub quiz, sponsored run, street collection, fashion show, barbecue, auction, expedition, parachute jump, swear box, tug of war, bed push, marathon, treasure hunt, boxing match, ball, car wash, bar top collection, fair, rugby/football tournament, street party, garden party, karaoke, bingo, cycling, car rally, swimming, head shaving, fancy dress, raffle, dinner/lunch, variety show, clay pigeon shoot, archery, sailing, table tennis, line dancing, pantomime, roulette, rowing, your life's ambition, record breaking...

You may need to think about the following:
Training
Is there someone who could advise you if special training is required?
Timescale
The event may take some preparation. Could you get someone to help?
Permission
You may need to get permission, for example from local authorities if you are running on public roads.
Safety
Will you need first aid, the fire brigade or the police on hand?

Doing the event itself is only half the work! You also need to round up support and encourage people to sponsor you.
Sponsors
Friends, family, work colleagues, everyone in your Corps/Regiment, and local firms.
Amounts
If you ask for amounts per unit (e.g. £1 per mile or per hour) even if you don't fulfil your objective, you will still raise money.
Where is the money going?
For further information on the ABF, contact your Regional Fundraising Director who can supply you with leaflets and posters to hand out.
Donating online
The ABF has teamed up with justgiving so that you can raise money quickly and easily online with your own personalised webpage. We may provide a link to your page from this site (see Meet a fundraiser). Visit the ABF justgiving fundraising pages or call 0800 028 6183 for more details.

Tell the press
Local newspapers and radio, Corps/Regimental magazine, Garrison Radio, Soldier Magazine. Don't forget to take photographs - newspapers are more likely to publish those stories with an interesting picture attached.
Advertise
Display posters in your workplace/barracks with a sponsorship form next to them. Don't forget to ask for approval. If you are serving, you may want to consult your Unit PRO or your Platoon/Troop Commander.
Spread the word
Let your ABF Regional Fundraising Director know what you are doing, they will be more than happy to advise and help you.

Be focused
Rather than collecting cash in dribs and drabs, set aside a day or two to collect as much of the money as possible. Let people know this date when they are sponsoring you. Write to any companies which have agreed to sponsor you, requesting the promised amount.
Returning the cash
Once you have collected all the cash, send the full amount in a cheque or postal order (made payable to Army Benevolent Fund) to:
Fay Ponikowski

If you have any images of your fundraising event we would love to see them! Please send them to Kate Mackay.
