The ABF launches its Current Operations Fund
The ABF received a SuperGrant from the Army Central Fund this week, bringing the total raised for its current appeal to £750,000.
The ABF's Current Operations Fund appeal was launched on 8 October 2007, specifically to support soldiers injured or families of those killed as a result of their Service during current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The success of this current appeal is unprecedented and highlights the high level of public support for soldiers, proving that the covenant between the British public and the Army is still firmly in place.
The Army Central Fund is the serving Army's principal charity – supporting all ranks and their families. In recognition, therefore of the Army Central Fund's very close links to the ABF, this SuperGrant has been made specifically to benefit those sadly affected by the high tempo of current operations.
I am delighted that the Trustees of the Army Central Fund have most generously awarded a SuperGrant specifically to support our Current Operations Fund. This is a wonderful boost to the newly established fund and takes the total received to date to over £750,000. The money raised through this year's appeal will help us support soldiers who have sustained major injuries whilst on active service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
